What P0011 means
The engine control module commanded a cam timing position and the camshaft did not reach it, or advanced past it. Almost always oil-related.
Common causes
- Low or dirty engine oil, or the wrong viscosity
- Clogged VVT oil control valve screen
- Failed camshaft oil control (VVT) solenoid
- Stretched timing chain or worn tensioner
How it is usually fixed
- 1Change oil and filter with the correct viscosity first — this resolves a large share of these codes
- 2Remove and clean or replace the oil control valve
- 3Check timing chain stretch if the code returns

- P0101 — Mass Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance
- P0113 — Intake Air Temperature Sensor Circuit High
- P0118 — Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Circuit High
- P0131 — O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1, Sensor 1)
- P0138 — O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1, Sensor 2)
